On August 24th, the 7th 'Maker China' Photovoltaic New Energy Industry Chain Race was held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. This competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Focusing on key links such as 'casting long boards, filling short boards, and extending the industrial chain and value chain', large enterprises 'put forward questions' and small and medium-sized enterprises 'expose the list' to promote the overall improvement of the industrial chain through collaborative innovation of the industrial chain.
Xuzhou New Energy Industry Chain Raceway is one of the six national racetracks. After the first two rounds of fierce competition, 30 enterprises and makers were shortlisted for the finals. The 30 teams that entered the finals were selected as the top 14 in China, and a number of enterprises were recommended to be selected as 'Little Giants' specialized in provincial level.
Gong Weifang, deputy mayor of Xuzhou Municipal People's Government, secretary of Tongshan District Party Committee and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Xuzhou High-tech Zone, said in his speech that in recent years, Xuzhou has attached great importance to the development of new energy industry, insisted on taking project construction as the starting point, focused on improving industrial support, continuously expanded the industrial scale, lengthened the industrial chain, upgraded the industrial level, vigorously built a good ecology of 'science and technology+talents+platforms+funds+services', and cultivated and formed silicon crystal photovoltaic, new energy vehicles and key technologies. Taking this competition as an opportunity, Xuzhou will actively connect with industry experts, head enterprises and makers, and strive for more outstanding enterprises and projects.
China Crystalline Silicon Industry Development Forum was held at the same time. The forum aims to release the innovation vitality of enterprises, stimulate the innovation potential of enterprises, enhance the toughness and competitiveness of new energy industry supply chain, and build an industry synergy, high efficiency, integration and smooth integration innovation ecosystem. Experts attending the forum focused on topics such as 'the present situation and development trend of polysilicon industry in China', 'GCL FBR granular silicon-'double-carbon' driven to promote photovoltaic intelligent low-carbon new era' and 'futures market to help silicon industry develop with high quality'.
At present, vigorously developing new clean energy has become the leading direction and concerted action of the international community to cope with climate change and realize the global energy revolution. In recent years, China's new energy industry, represented by wind power and photovoltaic power generation, has achieved remarkable results. The development level of new energy equipment is leading the world, and the generation of clean energy has steadily increased, laying a solid foundation for China to achieve peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality on schedule.
As an important manufacturing town and a new energy industry base, Xuzhou has a deep manufacturing foundation and the development potential of photovoltaic industry. It continues to explore new integrated development modes such as 'photovoltaic+intelligent power equipment' and 'new energy+construction machinery', and expands diversified application scenarios such as 'photovoltaic+building'. The new energy industry chain has been continuously extended, and an industrial cluster dominated by two main chains of new energy and coal-fired power energy has been formed, covering crystalline silicon photovoltaic, wind power equipment, new energy vehicles, key parts and components. At present, Xuzhou has 145 regulated new energy enterprises, which have gathered many leading manufacturing enterprises in industries such as Zhongneng Silicon Industry and GCL Silicon Materials. Eight counties (cities, districts) have been approved as national-level pilot projects for roof distributed photovoltaic development in whole counties (cities, districts). In 2021, the city's new energy industry achieved an output value of 33.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 46.2%; In the first half of this year, the output value of the new energy industry is expected to reach 28 billion yuan, with an increase of more than 70%. The industry shows a good trend of rapid growth and cluster development.
