Hainan Daily reporter learned from the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology on August 23rd that from August 25th to 28th, the 2022 World New Energy Vehicle Congress will be held in Beijing and Hainan in an online and offline way. This is also the 4th World New Energy Vehicle Congress held continuously since its establishment in 2019.

The conference was co-sponsored by China Association for Science and Technology, Beijing Municipal People's Government, Hainan Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

With the theme of 'All-round Electrification and Global Cooperation under the Vision of Carbon Neutrality', this conference has set up four main forums, nine special forums, nine technical seminars, one high-level closed-door meeting, and one CCTV dialogue, and invited representatives from the political and Industry-University-Research circles around the world to conduct discussions. The conference will also hold a technical exhibition with an exhibition area of 13,000 square meters. The exhibits cover advanced technologies and products such as new energy vehicles, power batteries, driving motors, hydrogen fuel cells, automotive chips, energy supply and supporting facilities.

Hainan gives full play to the role of the World New Energy Vehicle Congress in deepening global cooperation and building an international exchange platform in the field of new energy vehicles. In the past four years, our province has attracted extensive attention from all walks of life at home and abroad, especially leading enterprises in the automobile industry, to the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, constantly promoting the deepening of opening up and cooperation in the field of new energy automobile industry, and accelerating the formation of a new situation in which the promotion and industrial development of new energy vehicles in the province promote each other and develop together.

In March, 2019, Hainan Province Clean Energy Vehicle Development Plan was officially released. Hainan became the first province in the country to propose a timetable of 'banning the sale of fuel vehicles' in 2030, and became the first island economy in the world to propose a global clean energy vehicle development strategy. Recently, the 'Implementation Plan of peak carbon dioxide emissions, Hainan Province' made it clear once again that the whole island of Hainan will completely ban the sale of fuel vehicles by 2030.

Since 2019, more than 160,000 new energy vehicles have been promoted and applied in our province. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the growth rate of new energy holdings has ranked first in the country, which can reduce carbon emissions by about 400,000 tons every year; As of the end of June this year, the number of new energy vehicles in Hainan accounted for 8.91% of the total number of vehicles, double that of 2020 (4.2%), ranking second only to Shanghai, ranking second in the provincial areas of China; The overall ratio of pure electric vehicles to charging piles in Hainan is 2.2: 1, which is better than the national average.

Hainan will continue to take the World New Energy Vehicle Congress as an important exhibition and publicity window, take the ecological island, demonstration island and innovation island as its general vision, deepen international and domestic cooperation, continuously optimize the industrial development environment, speed up the promotion of new energy vehicles, actively build Hainan's example, provide Hainan's plan and contribute to Hainan's efforts in the global clean energy of automobiles, and strive to be the 'top student' of carbon neutrality in peak carbon dioxide emissions.
