Electricity trading channels with Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Yunnan, Guizhou and other western regions, and even Southeast Asian countries will be smoother, and it will be more flexible and efficient for Guizhou's new energy surplus power to be consumed across provinces and regions.

On the same day, more than 157 power plants and users in Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangdong reached the first inter-provincial spot transaction in the southern region through the southern regional power market trading platform, and the total market-oriented electricity consumption reached 2.7 billion kWh throughout the day.

After the commissioning of the southern regional electricity market, the medium and long-term trading cycle will cover the year, month and week in an all-round way; Spot trading will realize the cross-regional and inter-provincial trading of electricity spot in five southern provinces; The variety and compensation mechanism of the auxiliary market will be further improved.

Xu Wenqiang, general manager of the marketing department of Guizhou Power Grid Corporation, said that all market players in the southern region can participate in electricity trading through medium and long term, spot and other ways. The power plants in the western region can obtain wider sales channels, while the users in the eastern region can enjoy more flexible and wider energy purchase options, which will promote the optimal allocation of power resources in a wider range, promote the green and low-carbon transformation of energy production and consumption, and also support the rapid development of new energy through marketization.

As an important part of the power market in southern China, Guizhou took the lead in realizing the official operation of peak shaving market, and started the trial settlement of FM market in June this year, realizing the full coverage of FM market in southern China. In the first half of 2022, Guizhou's electricity market-oriented trading volume totaled 40.684 billion kWh, up 59.66% year-on-year. There are 5,350 market entities involved in market transactions in the whole province.

'According to the trial operation plan of the regional market, Guizhou will also realize the first batch of joint clearing of the power spot market in the southern region.'
