According to the data released by the Ministry of Public Security, by the end of June, the number of new energy vehicles in China had reached 10.01 million, accounting for 3.23% of the total number of vehicles.

'The possession of 10 million vehicles is exciting news, which means that new energy vehicles are no longer a minority.' Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of China Automobile Association, told reporters that new energy vehicles have gradually become the alternative products of fuel vehicles, and the rapid growth trend will continue.

Automobile production and sales exceeded expectations.

Chen Shihua, deputy secretary general of China Automobile Association, said that although the production and sales of new energy vehicles were affected by the epidemic in the first half of the year, all enterprises attached great importance to new energy vehicle products, and the supply chain resources were given priority to centralized supply. From the current development trend, the overall production and sales situation exceeded expectations.

On the basis of a record high in production and sales in June, the number of new energy vehicles has reached 10 million. From a faltering start to a cumulative promotion of over 10 million vehicles, China's new energy automobile industry has achieved a leap-forward growth for more than 10 years. In 2012, the sales volume of new energy vehicles was only 12,791, and the sales volume jumped to 3.521 million last year. Globally, the sales volume of new energy vehicles in China has maintained a leading level for many years, accounting for more than half of the world's total.

'There are many reasons for the current achievements of new energy vehicles.' Xu Haidong believes that, first of all, it is the support of government departments and policies. Since 2008, China has unswervingly developed new energy vehicles, and issued a large number of policies and plans, which strongly supported the industrial development. Secondly, automobile companies actively follow up and provide more and more products. Thirdly, the new energy automobile industry chain is becoming more and more perfect.

More importantly, a number of Chinese automobile brands took the lead and took the lead in industrial development. Traditional car companies such as Chang 'an, Geely, Great Wall, etc. have achieved rapid transformation, opening the way for the rise of Chinese brands. The brand influence of new force enterprises such as Weilai, Ideality, Tucki, Zero Run, etc. has been continuously improved, which has brought new products, new technologies, new models and new ideas, and promoted the promotion of the industry.

With the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the charging infrastructure construction keeps pace with the industrial development situation, and the layout is carried out in an orderly manner. The data shows that as of June this year, the cumulative number of charging infrastructures in the country was 3.918 million units, up by 101.2% year-on-year. Tong Zongqi, director of the Information Department of China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, said that in the first half of the year, both public charging piles and private charging piles maintained a very fast growth rate, and there is still much room for growth of charging infrastructure in the future.

Market competition is becoming increasingly fierce.

In the first half of the year, China's automobile production and sales generally showed a U-shaped trend, with a good start in the first two months, a rapid decline in the middle and late March, and a significant increase in June. Fluctuations are mainly due to supply chain problems such as shortage of chips and rising prices of raw materials for power batteries. Especially since the middle and late March, epidemics in Jilin, Shanghai and other places have been distributed in many places, causing a great impact on the supply chain of the industrial chain.

Chip supply will directly affect the production rhythm of car companies in the second half of the year. Since the second half of 2020, the supply of car-gauge chips has been tight, and the purchase price has risen sharply. At present, the risk of shortage and mismatch of some chips still exists. Chen Shihua said that compared with traditional cars, the number of chips needed by new energy cars has doubled, and in the future, car companies should do more work in the research and development of chip application technology.

The pressure on the production cost of new energy vehicles is still high. Since February this year, affected by the rising price of raw materials for power batteries, the cost pressure of the industrial chain has been transmitted to the downstream, and the sales price of new energy vehicles has been forced to rise. Both car companies and consumers are under great pressure to digest costs. The excessively high price of new energy vehicles may affect consumers' purchasing confidence in the future, which will have an adverse impact on the sustainability of industry development.

As the new energy industry enters a critical period of development, it will usher in more intense competition. In June, three factories, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, with a cost of over 10 billion yuan were put into production one after another. Whether Chinese automobile brands with first-Mover advantage can win the competition with international brands or not, the stability of supply chain will play an important role.

Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that the current problems in the automobile supply chain are caused by the epidemic and the impact of international emergencies. The new ecological construction of automobile supply chain needs to rely on the super-large-scale market to speed up the research and development of core technologies; It is necessary to speed up the top-level design of laws and regulations and strengthen ecological synergy and cross-border integration. 'The supply chain is becoming the most active position of automotive technology innovation. The supply chain of new energy and intelligent networked vehicles is developing towards the integration of software and hardware, which will form a huge market.' Fu Bingfeng said.

A series of problems remain to be solved.

Chen Shihua said that the sales of new energy vehicles are expected to reach 5.5 million this year, a year-on-year increase of more than 56%. The sales of new energy vehicles continue to grow at a high speed, which puts forward higher requirements for automobile-related industries. Is the charging infrastructure of new energy vehicles enough? Is there any guarantee for after-sales maintenance? Is it convenient to trade used cars? Is the recycling path clear? A series of problems need to be solved urgently.

The charging infrastructure will maintain a rapid growth trend. Tong Zongqi said that in January this year, ten ministries and commissions issued the 'Implementation Opinions on Further Improving the Service Support Capability of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure'. After that, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shenzhen and other provinces and cities have issued relevant plans, which promoted the explosive growth of charging infrastructure. More enterprises and capital begin to enter the field of charging and replacing electricity, which will further promote the development of the industry.

After-sales maintenance of new energy vehicles needs to be improved. Xu Haidong introduced that car companies are paying more attention to after-sales maintenance, and capital is also entering new energy batteries, maintenance and testing of charging infrastructure and other fields. 'According to the existing number of new energy vehicles, the total number of self-operated and authorized stores of new energy vehicle manufacturers is difficult to cover the demand, and the supply is obviously insufficient.' Zhu Yan, co-founder and innovation business leader of Tigress, analyzed that this contradiction is not outstanding at present, mainly because the daily maintenance of new energy vehicles is less than that of fuel vehicles, and the chassis parts and the three-power system have not yet entered the period of high maintenance. The early participation of independent third-party car service platform will bring convenience to new energy owners.

The trading volume of new energy used cars will see a sustained and rapid growth. Wang Xiaoyu, co-founder and senior vice president of Guazi used car, revealed that in June this year, the trading volume of Guazi new energy used car increased by over 90% year-on-year. Recently, the policy of facilitating the circulation of used cars has gradually landed, which is of great significance to the national circulation of new energy used cars.

In addition, Chen Shihua said that the recycling of new energy vehicles is a link that needs special attention. At present, the amount of scrap is not large, which is the window of layout. It should be laid out as soon as possible to speed up the construction of outlets.
