New energy vehicles usher in a market driven inflection point

The new energy vehicle industry has ushered in a high light moment of blossom and fruit in 2021. On January 15, the China passenger car market information joint meeting announced the sales volume of new energy vehicles in December 2021. According to the data, there are 14 enterprises with wholesale sales exceeding 10000 vehicles, including 93338 BYD, 70847 Tesla China and 60372 SAIC GM Wuling, ranking the top three respectively; The sales volume of new forces such as Xiaopeng, ideal, Weilai and Nezha exceeded 10000, and the sales volume of the leader Xiaopeng automobile in December was 16000.

Previously, on January 12, the data released by China Automobile Industry Association showed that in 2021, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.545 million and 3.521 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times, and the share increased to 13.4%. Insiders commented that the growth of new energy vehicles has become the first engine of the growth of China's automobile market.

At present, China has become the world's largest new energy vehicle production and sales market, the number of new energy vehicle enterprises is growing, and independent brands are rising rapidly. Up to now, there are about 200 new energy vehicle enterprises in China, of which 150 have been born in recent three years. Among the top 20 sales of new energy passenger vehicle enterprises in the world, Chinese car enterprises account for nearly half. At the same time, Tianyan survey data show that there are about 400000 new energy vehicle related enterprises in China, of which nearly 4000 are high-tech enterprises.

BYD, BAIC Jihu, SAIC GM Wuling, Great Wall Euler, Geely jikrypton and other traditional automobile enterprises have made continuous breakthroughs in new energy vehicle brands; Wei Lai, Xiao Peng, ideal, Nezha and other new forces of car making grew rapidly. In addition, Tesla, a foreign brand, has begun to select a site for the construction of China's second factory, and China has become an important global production and export base of Tesla. Meanwhile, multinational brands such as Volkswagen, GM and Ford are also actively promoting their joint venture brands of new energy vehicles with domestic automobile enterprises.

The gradual improvement of supporting facilities has also laid a foundation for the rapid development of the industry. By the end of 2021, China has built 75000 charging stations, 2617000 charging piles and 1298 replacement stations.

Some industry experts believe that with the progress of technology and the continuous iterative upgrading of products, new energy vehicles will increasingly meet the needs of consumers. They are experiencing a historical turning point from policy driven to market driven, and new energy vehicles will usher in a new growth climax.

Although the new energy vehicle market has unlimited potential, there are still many tough battles to fight. According to the notice on the financial subsidy policy for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles in 2022 jointly issued by the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of industry and information technology, the Ministry of science and technology and the national development and Reform Commission, the subsidy standard for new energy vehicles will decline by 30% from January 1, 2022. In 2021, the storm of 'lack of core' swept through the automobile circle and became the biggest uncertain factor in automobile production and delivery. Many people in the industry worry that the supply chain crisis will continue until 2022. In addition, the lack of universal national cars and scooters is the biggest hidden worry of the existing product structure of new energy.

It is noteworthy that technology enterprises such as Baidu and Xiaomi have once again set off a cross-border car making boom. Relying on their strong capital and technical strength, and superimposed with profound accumulation in the automobile industry, these science and technology enterprises will bring more profound changes to the pattern of China's automobile industry.

China's new energy vehicle enterprises have seized the opportunity to lead the world in the development of new energy and intelligent networked vehicles.
