In recent years, with the popularization of low-carbon environmental protection concept, more and more Southeast Asian countries began to produce and sell new energy vehicles. As one of the earliest companies to produce new energy vehicles in Myanmar, China-Myanmar joint venture Kaikai Sanda Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is deeply involved in the field of new energy vehicles, and the new energy vehicles launched provide new options for Myanmar people to travel with low carbon.

Kaisanda Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. complied with the development trend of automobile industry, and produced the first generation of pure electric vehicles in 2020, but soon after selling 20 vehicles, the situation of 'acclimatization' appeared.

Yu Jianchen, general manager of the company, said in an interview in Yangon a few days ago that the speed of pure electric vehicles is slow, and frequent use of air conditioners makes it difficult for cars to reach the rated mileage. In addition, due to the lack of charging piles in the local area, the car broke down without electricity halfway from time to time.

After stopping selling the first generation of pure electric vehicles, Yu Jianchen invited Chinese engineers to the factory to develop new energy vehicles suitable for Myanmar market. After continuous research and polishing, the company launched the second generation of extended-range new energy electric vehicles. After a period of testing and obtaining relevant approvals, the new products began to be sold on March 1st.

Yu Jianchen said that the battery of the second-generation car supports household 220 volt charging, and when the battery voltage is insufficient, the fuel generator will automatically switch to generate electricity. Compared with the fuel truck, this product has greatly reduced fuel consumption and is very low-carbon and environmentally friendly. In order to support Myanmar in its fight against the COVID-19 epidemic and benefit the local people, the company sold new products at a cost close to 30,000 yuan each.

The listing of new cars attracted the attention of Burmese people, and more than 10 cars were sold in less than a week. Dan Ang, who just bought new energy vehicles, said that because of the rising oil price and the increasing commuting cost, he chose to buy new energy vehicles with lower cost.

Dawu, another new energy vehicle leader, said that the use of cars in urban areas can save fuel costs, and the engine sound is low, which is more environmentally friendly.

Yu Jianchen pointed out that the original intention of producing new energy vehicles was to respond to the Myanmar government's initiative of green, low carbon and environmental protection. All vehicle parts are imported from China, and enjoy the Chinese government's export tax rebate policy for new energy automobile parts.

Yu Jianchen believes that with Myanmar's emphasis on low-carbon environmental protection, new energy vehicles will have better prospects in the future. To this end, the company has set up a new energy vehicle development center and is working hard to expand its business.

'The first batch of the second-generation new energy vehicles produced a total of 100 vehicles. We should adjust and improve the production according to market feedback.' Yu Jianchen said that the company has applied for the Myanmar government's approval for the production of 2,000 new energy vehicles, and if the market response is good, the production will continue.

The power shortage in Myanmar has been severe in the past month, and intermittent power outages have occurred in many places. Yu Jianchen said that in the future, it is possible to increase the function of electric vehicles to supply power to families.
