China’s auto production and sales reached 2.077 million and 2.067 million vehicles respectively in September, up 20.4 percent and 14.9 percent respectively from the previous month, and down 17.9 percent and 19.6 percent respectively from the same period last year, according to Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary General of the China Automobile Association. In that month, car production and sales data improved from the previous month, both showed faster growth, but due to a higher base in the same period, still showed a faster decline year-on-year, with the decline in commercial vehicle production and sales more obvious.
China’s production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.166 million units and 2.157 million units respectively in the first three quarters of this year, up 1.8 times and 1.9 times respectively from the same period last year, according to the China Automobile Association. Among the main types of new energy vehicles, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles continued their steady growth compared with the same period last year.
Fu Bingfeng, executive vice-president and secretary-general of CAA, said that from the situation in September, the supply shortage of chips has eased slightly, but it still can not meet production needs. With the macro-economic stability in good development, car consumption demand is still stable.
